1 : I use a Digital Sky receiver and I am having problems receiving the GUIDE Plus+ data.
There are several reasons why you could have problems receiving the data. Some are related to certain models of Sky receivers.
If you still have a terrestrial connection in your house please follow these steps:
- Connect your terrestrial antenna directly to your GUIDE Plus+ unit's RF input at the back of the device.
- Access the unit's Setup area by pressing the System button on your remote control.
- Use the down arrow until you reach Installation.
- In Installation do select Automatic Search.
- After the search exit the unit's Setup area, tune to ITV and leave it on overnight
- The next day, check to see if you have received TV Listings data.
If you don't have a terrestrial connection please follow these steps:
- Leave your unit on standby overnight.
- The next day check to see if you have received TV Listings data.
Note: GUIDE Plus+ data are broadcast as teletext data. Some Sky receivers are not compatible because they block the transmission of GUIDE Plus+/teletext data. Others are partially compatible because not all ouput sockets transmit GUIDE Plus+ data. Gemstar recommend that your DVDR be connected to the TV scart socket of your Sky Digital receiver, not to the VCR scart socket.
If you performed the steps above without success, please contact the Manufacturer’s Customer Support Centre and report your Sky receiver's brand and model.
2 : I use a satellite box brand that is not listed in the GUIDE Plus+ system. What should I do?
The GUIDE Plus+ unit has a built-in list of brands for external receivers. In addition, the GUIDE Plus+ data broadcasts contain additional external receiver brands that will be automatically added to the built-in list. If you cannot find your box brand during your initial Setup please follow these steps:
- Leave your unit on standby overnight.
- The next day use your up and right arrows to access the Setup area in the main menu bar.
- Select External Receiver to access the list of brands and check to see if your external receiver brand has been added to the list overnight.
If your external receiver brand is still not in the list please contact the Manufacturer’s Customer Support Centre and report your brand and model.

4 : I used to receive data through my aerial. Now, I have "upgraded" to a satellite system or cable with external receiver. What should I do to receive data for the GUIDE Plus+ system?
You can try to receive your Host Channel through your new reception method. If you have problems receiving data we recommend that you keep your aerial connection to receive data. Note, that it is important that you identify your Host Channel correctly in the Editor area (if ITV: source must be Tuner, if Eurosport: source must be External receiver).
5 : I received ITV via my aerial but now I have installed a Sky Digital receiver. Do I still need to keep my aerial connection?
Yes. Although the GUIDE Plus+ data is carried on Sky via Eurosport we recommend that you leave your aerial connected to the unit so that you can receive your TV listings data through ITV.
6 : What if I change my satellite hook-up to aerial?
Please go to the Setup area in the main menu bar. Once you are in the Setup area, select the field for "External Receiver". Press OK on your current satellite receiver and subsequently change to "None" . Your channel line up will change and the GUIDE Plus+ system will tune to ITV for its updates. Go to Editor to ensure that the source for ITV is set to "Tuner".
