1 : Do I have to enter my postal code in the GUIDE Plus+ Setup area?
Yes, in order to ensure correct Setup you need to enter your postal code in the Setup area. In the main menu bar, go to the Setup area and select the field for postal code. Enter your postal code using the up/down arrows of the remote control. Leave the unit on standby mode overnight to receive the data download of channel listings for your region.
2 : When I tried setting up my external receiver I could not get any of the attempts to work, what should I do?
There could be several reasons why your external receiver could not be controlled.
1. The physical cabling could be wrong. Please make sure that the G-LINK cable is connected to the back of your GUIDE Plus+ unit and the infrared transmitter is in front of the external receiver, pointing towards the Infrared receptors in your external receiver. See Quick Start Instructions.
2. The code that is listed under your brand could be wrong. Please try other codes for your brand under satellite, cable or terrestrial. Go to the Setup area, select Reception and choose one of the three options (Cable, Satellite or Terrestrial) that you have not yet tried. Then select External Receiver, and select your brand. Follow the on-screen prompts to make sure the guide can change channels on your external receiver. If it does not work, repeat the process, choosing different reception and external receiver combinations until you have tried all the codes for your brand of receiver that are already in the GUIDE Plus+ system. If it still does not work, see 3 below on how to receive new codes overnight.
3. The unit has not yet received new codes. The nightly data downloads frequently include new codes for controlling external receivers. Please tune to your Host Channel and leave the GUIDE Plus+ unit on overnight. The next morning, please perform the GUIDE Plus+ Setup described in 2 above again to see if your external receiver can now be controlled. For a more detailed description please check the Alternate Setup section in the Quick Start Instructions.
4. The external receiver that you use is currently not supported. If, after leaving the unit in standby overnight, and doing the Reception and External Receiver Setup again, you can still not control your external receiver, please contact the Manufacturer’s Customer Support Centre to report your brand and model.
3 : I tried to see if there was updated data for my external receiver but it was unsuccessful. What do I do now?
Please contact the Manufacturer’s Customer Support Centre to report your brand and model.
4 : My external receiver was successfully set up. However I have found that when the GUIDE Plus+ system has to change to a channel with a 3-digit programme number in the external receiver's preset, it does not work. It looks like the GUIDE Plus+ system can only send two digits.
With the number of channels increasing, the number of digits has increased as well. While older boxes use only 2 digits, newer boxes require up to 4. It is possible that you selected an older code for your brand during Setup.
Please use the up and right arrows on your remote control to access the Setup area in the main menu bar.
- Select : External Receiver.
- Repeat the Setup for your brand. (Note : Every time you see the on-screen question about whether the receiver has changed to a certain channel, the GUIDE Plus+ unit has sent a different code.)
- Try all the different codes until your GUIDE Plus+ system can control your external receiver correctly.
If you have no success, try to receive new codes overnight as described in the Alternate Setup section of the Quick Start Instructions. If you still have no success, please contact the Manufacturer’s Customer Support Centre to report your brand and model.
5 : I need to disconnect my GUIDE Plus+ unit from the mains, will I then have to perform Setup again?
No, the GUIDE Plus+ unit will keep all your Setup information and all your TV Listings data permanently, until you change them. There is no time limit. However, after performing the initial Setup, it is important that you leave the GUIDE Plus+ unit on standby for at least 10 minutes before you disconnect it from the power supply. If you unplug too fast you risk loosing the data. If your unit has already been set up and in use for more than a few hours, then the data has already been saved. You may disconnect without waiting 10 minutes.
6 : I am moving house so I need to disconnect the GUIDE Plus+ unit from the mains will I then have to perform Setup again?
The GUIDE Plus+ unit will keep all your Setup information and all your TV Listings data permanently, until you change them. There is no time limit. It is important that you leave the GUIDE Plus+ unit on standby for at least 10 minutes before you disconnect it from the power supply. If you unplug to fast you risk loosing the data.
However, when you connect your GUIDE Plus+ unit at your new location you need to adjust your country and postal code information if applicable.
Please use the up and right arrows on your remote control to access the Setup area.
- Select your new country
- Enter your new postal code
- Repeat your external receiver Setup if your method of reception has changed as well.
7 : I had a power outage. Do I need to go through initial Setup of the GUIDE Plus+ system again?
The GUIDE Plus+ unit will keep all your Setup information and all your TV Listings data permanently, until you change them. There is no time limit. However, in case of an abrupt power failure while your GUIDE Plus+ unit was "ON", it might lose its data. In this case you have to wait overnight so that the data can be downloaded again.
8 : How do I access the GUIDE Plus+ system Setup area?
Use the up arrow key on your remote control to access the main menu bar, displayed in grey, right above the listings. Move right using the right arrow key on your remote control until you reach the on-screen button labelled Setup. The Setup fields will appear on screen. Use the down arrow key on your remote control to select the field(s) you need to change.
9 : If I make a mistake during Setup, how do I go back to the previous step?
Most of the areas allow you to go back to the previous area by pressing the red button on your remote control. This feature is indicated through the coloured action button displayed at the top of the screen with the word "Back" written on it.
10 : How do I connect the G-LINK cable?
Plug your G-LINK cable to the appropriate outlet at the back of your GUIDE Plus+ unit. Then place the infrared emitter part of the G-LINK cable in front of your external receiver so that the G-LINK infrared emitter is facing the infrared receiver of the external box. If you are not sure where the infrared receiver is located you can either look for a little red blinking light every time you send a command from the remote control or you can use a flashlight to look behind the glass of your external receiver. The infrared receiver looks like a tiny red light bulb.
