- and much more!
2 : Can I receive the GUIDE Plus+ where I live?
Yes the GUIDE Plus+ system is available to anyone who can receive ITV through an aerial, or Eurosport via satellite reception. If you have cable reception only, you cannot receive our data.
3 : Will the GUIDE Plus+ system work with my cable or satellite service?
Yes, the GUIDE Plus+ system can control your external cable or satellite receiver. Just connect the G-LINK® cable to your GUIDE Plus+ unit and select your receiver brand in the GUIDE Plus+ Setup area. Depending on your reception you will receive listings information for all major channels available through your cable or satellite service. NOTE: The G-LINK feature for controlling external receivers may not be avaiable in every model. Please refer to the Instruction Manual for your model to verify if it is available.
4 : My DVDR/PVR works fine, why do I need to set up the GUIDE Plus+ system? I already have another EPG that has all the features I need.
The GUIDE Plus+ system offers features that are not available in other EPGs. For example you can select a programme for recording just by highlighting the programme in the guide and pressing a button. No more hassles with manually setting each recording detail!
With the press of a button, you can also search the listings automatically for a specific genre of programme, such as Movies, Sport or Children.
5 : What is a Host Channel?
A Host Channel is a channel that carries the GUIDE Plus+ system data to your household within its video signals. The data is not visible. There are different Host Channels for different regions throughout Europe. Please click here for a list of Host Channels to identify the Host Channel for your region.
In order to receive the TV listings data, the GUIDE Plus+ system needs to connect to its Host Channel on a regular basis. Only the Host Channel specified for your region carries the TV listings data for your household. If the GUIDE Plus+ system is unable to connect to the Host Channel, then the guide will either display incorrect data or no data at all.
6 : What happens during the Host Channel data download? How often are there Host Channel downloads?
During the download, the TV listings data for your household will be transferred via the Host Channel's signal to the GUIDE Plus+ system in your home (i.e. the DVDR, PVR, TV, etc. that is equipped with the GUIDE Plus+ feature). Host channel downloads occur in the middle of the night. After a successful download, the next morning you will see current TV listings data in the Grid and in the other areas of the guide.
7 : What is the preferred Host Channel in the UK?
In the UK both ITV (terrestrial) and Eurosport (for BSKYB only) carry the GUIDE Plus+ data. It is generally easier to receive the data via the terrestrial feed so we recommend to use ITV. BSKYB customers without a terrestrial input need to use Eurosport as the Host Channel.
8 : Do I always have to leave the GUIDE PLUS+ unit on standby mode to receive TV listing download from the Host Channel?
Yes. Since the GUIDE Plus+ system has to receive its downloads nightly using the tuner in the GUIDE Plus+ unit, it is important that you leave your unit in standby over night. Watching TV or recording has priority over the downloading. So, if you leave the device on, the GUIDE Plus+ system will not be able to receive data. Furthermore it is important that you do not disconnect the GUIDE Plus+ unit from the power supply at all.
9 : How long does a Host Channel download take?
The GUIDE Plus+ system must be allowed to tune to its Host Channel for at least one hour every day. There are several downloads in the middle of the night. This is the most likely time with when the unit is not used, so leaving your unit in standby mode overnight will ensure that the unit has enough time to receive the download.
10 : When I navigate to Info I find that there is no information, what is the problem?
This area is reserved for future information services available through the GUIDE Plus+ system. These service are currently not available, therefore, you do not see any information in the Info area. In the future, these services may include such categories as News, Weather, Sports Scores, Financial Market Prices, and much more. When such services are launched, announcements will alert you to their availability.
11 : My satellite/cable provider has an EPG with many more channels listed. Why does the GUIDE Plus+ system not have these channels?
The channels listed in the GUIDE Plus+ system have been selected according to their popularity and national availability. Therefore, in some areas, the GUIDE Plus+ system may not carry listings for channels that are not widely distributed. However, we are always interested in our customers needs. We constantly review and modify our channel lineups to meet these needs.
12 : Why do I not find all the GUIDE Plus+ features in my model?
The GUIDE Plus+ system offers many features. However, each manufacturer decides which features to make available in which models. The features can also be presented slightly differently by each manufacturer. Please refer to the user's Instruction Manual for more complete information about the GUIDE Plus+ features available in your model.
