The GUIDE Plus+® system is both a "technology" and a "service". It is a technology developed and licensed by Gemstar-TV Guide for incorporation into home entertainment equipment such as DVDRs, PVRs, VCRs, PCs, etc. distributed by major brands.
As a service, the GUIDE Plus+ system provides users with TV listings that are automatically updated every day, free of charge. There are no setup fees or on-going subscription charges.
To deliver this daily service, Gemstar-TV Guide uses "host channels" to broadcast programme listings signals to all the countries where the GUIDE Plus+ service has been launched. When these signals reach a DVDR or PVR equipped with the GUIDE Plus+ system, the relevant listings information is automatically stored in the memory of the device. These listings will be displayed on-screen in the GUIDE Plus+ system's colourful, easy-to-use format whenever you use the guide.
The programme information displayed in the GUIDE Plus+ system is obtained directly from sources in the broadcasting industry, so you are sure to have the most accurate TV listings possible.
In order to start receiving your GUIDE Plus+ listings you must first set up your device by entering basic information about where you live and what type of TV reception you have. This enables the GUIDE Plus+ unit to tune to the host channel and receive the correct programme listings for your location and type of TV reception.
Once you have received the first download of programme listings, all future updates are automatic! You will be able to enjoy the GUIDE Plus+ system's many convenient and helpful features.
